We began July by leaving Lake Tahoe and heading to Crater Lake Oregon.
The lady who volunteered to take this photo of us thought it would be good if we had a picture of her finger to remember her by.
On to Bend and our rendezvous with Jeff and family. After dinner (at a small and very crowded Pizza place) we found a nice park to walk the dogs and plan our attack to food shop for 17 people. Alysha was our official scribe and thankfully kept us organized all the next day at both Costco and Walmart.
In the morning before heading to Sunriver Jeff, Chayce and I did a little golf. It was a bummer not to have Brandon with us to complete our foursome.
Sunriver is still one of my favorite places in the world. I think part of it is the many fun memories of spending time with family and friends here, and this trip was no exception. My only regret was that we didn’t have more time this trip. I’d say it was a day or two short.
The Raft Trip
Games…of course
Oh ya, Chayce Jeff and I got up early and had another nice round of golf. It was a bit chilly for the first half of the round.
Bike rides to the falls
Here are pictures from the true winners of the scavenger hunt! You will know we are the winners, because we are the only team to have a picture with Grandpa and Grandma AND ICE CREAM!
What an awesome team! Way to go Autumn, Alysha and Ian!
After our tearful goodbyes we headed to the Oregon Coast. Thanks Grandpa and Grandma for letting us use your beach house.
We took the McKenzie Pass which is a lot longer, but what a beautiful drive.
Once at the beach we didn’t do too much. Our most strenuous activity of the day was looking up our next restaurant on Yelp and walking to the tide pools.
This is pretty much what it looked like. Chayce did leave us half way though to get prepared for his move to Wisconsin (more on that later).
Slight variation
Grandpa and Grandma came for a visit.
We left Oregon and headed to California. Our first stop was San Francisco. I had business to attend to, while Kim and Shelby had miles of hills to climb.
Before Leaving the area we spent a couple of days in Napa Valley.
Yosemite – It has been decades since I was here and I ’m glad we made the time to take the detour to the park. Beautiful Place.
Towards the end of the day a thunder and lightning storm came through the valley providing an exciting end to a great day.
After Yosemite it was a two day marathon back to AZ. While not the highlight of the trip it was an interesting drive through the interior of California. Lots of agriculture going on.
Shelby found a friend.
We had one of those bitter sweet moments life likes to give you this month. Chayce having graduated from ASU found an excellent job, but the bitter part is that it is in Madison Wisconsin! Whaaaat? That seams like a long ways away.
Kim flew out with him at the end of the month to find an apartment and get settled. First order of business was to find an apartment and a car. He accomplished both.
Sweet Ride!
Chayce and Kim had a busy week getting him all set so he can start work on Monday August 4th.
Wisconsin sounds like a beautiful place…in the summer. Let’s check back; say in January or February :)-
We will miss having him close by for the occasional visit and Sunday dinner, but we have also learned to adapt and who knows, perhaps Kim I will own a lake house in Wisconsin soon :). Just kidding…maybe.
Monsoon Season can be spectacular in AZ. Took this shot from our backyard.
Brandon moved home with us at the end of July, for a couple of weeks until school starts again, so we will get to enjoy him for half of August.
So far this is how we have spent our time with him.
That’s all for July.

Wow you guys make empty nesting look like the best time of your life - I kinda can't wait after reading your blog! Congrats to Chayce for making the big move - Wisconsin isn't that far and a great place for a lake house. :)
The true winners of the scavenger hunt's pictures must be posted on a different blog since these ones have a picture of a field instead of a picture of an animal and a picture of a sign of a church instead of an actual church. Better luck next time getting back a little faster.
Can't wait to visit the lake house in Wisconsin.
