With the Ririe reunion happening at the first of the month in July and our summer travels I completely forgot about the report this month, so sorry it is a little late.
We got to see Kiley in her dance recital, she did awesome!
In spite of things warming up the boys and I have continued to get out for golf when we can.
As you will see in subsequent reports this summer, Kim and I have made it a point to explore a variety of cooler destinations versus enduring a long and hot AZ summer. We figure smaller doses of heat mixed with time spent in cooler locations might make both more enjoyable.
Therefore our first stop was Prescott, AZ. Only an hour & 1/4 from our place in Scottsdale, and yet it is typically 20-30 degrees cooler. Nestled up in the mountains it is a cute little city with lot’s of fun things to do.
Kim and I were there for 10 days and the boys joined us for the final couple of days.
Hiking
Kayaking. It was fun but a lot of work. On the day we went it was quite windy, so the paddle out to the opposite end of the lake was easy and bit more like sailing or even surfing because of the waves. The route back was more of a battle as we fought through the gale force winds and “perfect storm’ sized waves to make it back to the dock.
Chayce and I joined Kim for Pedicures. It was mine and Chayce’s first time, so we were a bit nervous, but at the end of the process, we are converts and looking forward to our next visit.
One of our favorite places in Prescott is the courthouse square or Green as we like to call it after the Green in Morristown, NJ. Yes that’s Brandon clowning around in the background.
We had an apartment on the left side of this cute house.
Our patio in the back. I conducted much of my work from this table during the week.
After Prescott Brandon had to head back to Tempe for work and Chayce was able to join us on our trek up to Oregon.
First stop: Hoover Dam
Second stop: Las Vegas
After a few missing “clicks” we ended up at the Paris Hotel on the strip (inside joke for Kim and Chayce).
View from our room
Can’t keep Kim away from the strays
Bone Marrow for dinner, Chayce decided he isn’t a fan.
Next stop: Death Valley
Okay, not much to see here.
Next Stop: Lake Tahoe
Such a beautiful place. Kim and I decided we need to come back and spend more time here next summer.
The July Report will cover the rest of our trip in Oregon and California.
Right before our trip Chayce went to Wisconsin for an interview. The good news is, he did hear back that they offered him a job and he has decided to take it. He will be moving to Madison Wisconsin to work for a company called Epic. It sounds like a good opportunity and he is looking forward to it.
We are making him spend a few hours each day in the freezer at a local DQ, just to start getting used to the temperature difference from Tempe.
Oh ya, I was in Winston-Salem, NC and had breakfast with Danny Manning (NBA), well okay, I was in the same restaurant as him for breakfast. Wow is he tall.
See you next month

You guys make empty nesting look like so much fun! Loved seeing you at the reunion - wish Brandon could have been there.
