April 2014 Report

Spring in the desert.  This is an amazing time to be in Arizona.  The normally covert desert comes alive with flowers and blooms that seem impossible.  This is our Argentine Giant, just outside our bedroom window.

Kim fostered a kitten who was found abandoned at 4 weeks of age.  She was the cutest little thing and we enjoyed having her stay with us until she was old enough to be adopted by a permanent family.

We took an evening cruise on Saguaro Lake for a date night.

They had a band playing Beach Boys tunes (pretty good I should add).  It was a nice relaxing evening for us old people.  We saw a huge Bald Eagle and some mountain sheep along with plenty of other natural vistas.

On the way home, what started as a search for dinner at a local reservation casino, ended up with Kim and I in the middle of a multi nation Powwow.

As you can see the costumes were amazing, they had several different ritual dances along with competitions.  We ended up staying and watching well into the evening.

Rob took a spill on his mountain bike into a cactus.  After an hour or so of Kim doing surgery and a trip to the ER for a tetanus shot and antibiotics, I still have dozens of barbs broken off under the skin.

At the time of this posting it has been 3 plus weeks and we are stilling pulling barbs out.  Recommendation: Don’t crash your mountain bike; if you can’t avoid that, at least miss the cactus.

Have a great May

Your hand looks nasty - hope you are able to get all the barbs out eventually! And we definitely would have come all the way to Scottsdale if it weren't for Devin having to be back mid week to go on choir tour. Maybe Fall break in October!

I still hate the look of your hand. It looks awful. I wouldn't trade any of my injures for that hand. We sure loved our time there with you. Enjoyed the graduate and really enjoyed the trip up north. May just come again. Look forward to seeing you this summer. Do you know when you will be using the beach house?
