March 2014 Report

Happy Birthday Kim!

IMG_0716

29 all over again.

Kim got a new bike and now she zooms all over the neighborhood.  It’s just like when our boys got their first bikes.

Brandon had a couple of his NJ buddies who joined us for birthday dinner.  It was fun to see how all the kids we new as little league boys are all growing up.

For Spring Break we took a cruise out of Long Beach, CA.  The dock we left from was right next to the home of the Queen Mary.  Quite the size difference, i imagine those old trans Atlantic voyages must have been pretty rough.  Especially considering the Queen Mary was considered huge for its day.  What was it like Grandpa?

First order of business: EAT!

We had a nice private table for dinner every night.  This was one of our favorite parts of the cruise, a couple of hours (and I do mean hours, we had a very slow wait staff) each night to spend hanging out and talking with the boys.

Kim took a tour of the island while the boys and I went SCUBA diving.  The diving exceeded our expectations.  We went through a Kelp forest and saw a small wreck.  Kim’s tour just happened to take her by our dive location and she snapped a shot of us just after we finished our dive.  In the afternoon we rented a golf cart and took a scenic drive.

In Mexico we stopped in Ensenada for the day.  We rented ATVs and went up in the mountains overlooking the city and to some dunes down by the water.  Very fun.

Chayce documented our ride with the GoPro (camera on his head)  I’m so late on this blog I won’t put up video now, but perhaps in a future issue.

We looked like a gang of gringo bikers going through town.

It was true… we saw them.

Back in LA, we stopped at the best taco place in the world (well at least its our family’s favorite) for lunch before hitting the road to PHX.

We celebrated 28 years of wedded bliss.  It started by each independently purchasing the same card for each other.  It was a funny moment, okay I guess you had to be there, but you do have to admit … we think alike.

We had a very nice dinner at Capital Grill and we highly recommend it.  They know how to make a celebration nice. (for a price)

Kim was nice and tagged along with me to go watch the LPGA when they were in town for a tournament.  Yes it was fun to watch, but man does it make me realize how bad I am at golf.

And yet there is more!

The Atwoods came and spent their Spring Break with us.  More of you should follow their example.  Just look at all the fun stuff we did:

They even got to see a Haboob (dust storm for you foreigners)

…and lots of swimming

Kim and I finished the month with a business trip to Naples FL.  No I don’t know how we do it, but someone has to keep Chayce and Brandon in the lifestyle they have become accustomed to.

See you in April.  As you can tell by how late the March report is; it’s been a busy month.  I’m not sure how exciting, but busy.

That is exactly how I sunbathe Chayce and Kim! Looks like a fun cruise and trip to Florida. What a life of luxury. BTW I laughed out loud about the anniversary cards.
