No one was in the mood to brave the heat and fight the crowds for a 4th of July fireworks show, so we stayed home had a BBQ and watched the multiple fireworks you can see from our rooftop patio. It was a nice clear night so we were able to see several.
Brandon actually abandoned us and went up to a friend’s place for the weekend in Prescott. He went to the rodeo and it sounds like it was a fun weekend.
Disneyland
Kim and I hadn’t been to Disneyland in 30+ years and the boys never had. Now just in case you start thinking we are awful parents we have taken them on several trips to the FL parks, I'm just talking about the California variety. Anyway I digress, we decided it would be nice to take a few days and escape the heat and head to California. The weather cooperated and was a pleasant 70-80 degrees most of the time and we had a great weekend away.
Day 1 – Disneyland
Poor Chayce, his head is behind the bright flashing light.
Day 2 – US Surfing Open @ Huntington Beach
One of the competitors just happened to walk past us on her way out to compete. I wasn’t fast enough with the camera to get a shot from the front.
As interesting as it was to see the horde of spectators at the Open we spent most of our time down the beach snoozing at the waters edge.
Day 3 – Venice Beach
This Freak show is apparently also a reality TV show. Can’t wait for this one.
They had these two headed turtles out front.
On the way out of town we stopped at my favorite taco place and introduced Kim, Chayce and Brandon to Tito’s Tacos! It doesn’t matter what time you show up, there is always a long line, but worth the wait.
Have a great August…back to school time is already here!
