Congratulations Brandon!!
It is official Brandon graduated on June 20th – RHS Class of 2012. It was a very hot and humid day, but it was worth it to see our last little boy finish with high school. We are proud of him and look forward to great things from him as he heads off to ASU.
I wish we had found out earlier, but it turns out they showed the graduation ceremony live on line, if we had known we would have let more people know. At least I was able to let Grandpa and Grandma know so they could watch it and see Bran get his diploma. Sounds like they may have actually had a better view of Brandon then we did.
So what do you do when your nest is empty. Sell everything and start the next phase of your life right? Well, June 1st we put the house on the market and by June 4th we had our first offer and by June 5th it was sold…..
As hard as it is to believe in this market, the sale of our house worked out pretty much to plan. Obviously we had no expectation that it would sell so fast and in fact we were prepared for a lengthy process. Thankfully after just a few days on the market we got an offer and finalized an agreement in a matter of days. The nice thing now is that it allows us to enjoy our summer and then move once the boys are off to school. (We close at the end of August)
Just so you know, selling a house really sucks… In the few days we had it on the market we felt like prisoners in our own home. Afraid to touch anything and constantly having to pack up the dog and vacate whenever someone wanted to come and have a look.
Brandon’s Prom was in early June and it was a unique and cool concept. They held the prom on a boat in the Hudson River cruising around Manhattan. All the feedback from Brandon and his friends make it sound like it was a great way to have the prom.
I had to take a quick trip to Boston for a couple of days. Kim joined me so we could practice up on our empty nest skills. Boston is a great city to visit. So much to do within a reasonable walking distance of downtown. Kim and I walked around the city on Sunday evening and then Monday while I worked, Kim went on a whale watching cruise and a Trolley tour of the city.
We took a detour on the way up to Boston and walked across this former railroad, now pedestrian bridge in Upstate NY.

While we were in Boston the tornado came through Randolph and knocked over another tree in our back yard. Once again we were lucky it didn’t hit the house (our neighbor’s weren’t so lucky). The tree was probably 60’ tall and did crush a couple of chairs by the fire pit, but otherwise didn’t do too much damage.
Father’s Day.
As usual Kim and the boys took good care of me with gifts, meals and a trip into NYC for a walk on the Highline. It was a great day to be in the city, I recommend the highline to anyone who wants a different perspective of the city. I will admit it was a bit more crowded this time versus in the winter when we were here last.

Have a great July!

Congratulations to Brandon. Hard to believe that you sold your house. I'm a little bit sad for all of your changes, but happy that they are all planned and going in the right direction. Here's wishing you all the best!
Congrats to Brandon and you guys for selling your house so quickly! Looks like you will be having a great summer before truly enjoying empty nest-dom. :)
