April 2012 Report

Do you ever have one of those months where  so much happened that you keep putting off the blog because you feel like you have too much to write about and won’t have enough time to get it all down?  Well April was one of those months.  Not to mention May is off to a busy start so I just haven’t had the time to get this done.

By the way (BTW, for you texters) you may have noticed a new feature on ECR and that is the Instagram photos to the right.  It is a direct feed of the photos Kim and I take via our iPhones on Instagram, it only shows the 10 most recent pictures so you will have to come back often to see what we are up to.

Brandon’s spring break was in April and we combined his ASU orientation with a little R&R in Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon.  It was the first time Brandon has been in Vegas since he was a toddler so he had no memory of it and as with most people he was impressed by the size and over the top grandeur of… well everything Smile

We took in two shows while in Vegas, both were lots of fun.  The first “O” I’ve tried to get into many times and it is always sold out, we planned ahead and ordered tickets months ahead of time.  The second was David Copperfield and it was fun also.

This is Brandon in the morning after a night out in Vegas, I’d tell you more, but you know the rules; “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas”.

After Vegas we headed to the Grand Canyon via the Hoover Dam.  It was the first time we have seen the new bridge that allows traffic to bypass the dam, the bridge is an impressive structure and it sure makes visiting the dam much nicer as there is so much less traffic.

As suspected the first impression expression of Brandon who hasn’t ever seen the Grand Canyon was worth the trip alone.  It is truly one of those places that you have see it to believe it.  We spent the night at one of the lodges in the park and hiked along the rim in several different places.  Kim did her best to herd Brandon away from the edge and Brandon did his best to scare her to death.

The last stop on our trip was to visit Chayce at ASU and for Brandon to participate in his early registration and orientation for ASU.

In spite of Chayce being hammered with studying for finals we did manage to get him to hang out with us and take in a baseball game and a few other fun activities.

Brandon is all registered for class and ready to start studying hard to get good grades.

Shortly after we got home from our trip out west Gina and Elli came for a visit.  They split their time between NYC and our house.

We officially started the process of getting our house ready to put on the market.  Oh my what a huge amount of work this is going to be.  I never could have, would have guessed we could amass so much stuff in the 15 years we have been here.

We replaced all the carpet in the house which meant we had to move everything out of the rooms with carpet.  After multiple trips to Goodwill and the dump we have thinned the pile some, but we still have lots of work to do.

I’m not sure we will survive this process.  We may just have a big sale and sell everything.

Have a great May and I know I’ll have more horror stories to tell about fixing up the house.

What an awesome month! We keep talking about going to the Grand Canyon but have still never been there. Sounds amazing! Good luck with all the house stuff - I'm hoping we just die here so we can leave all the sorting and throwing stuff out to our children - sweet revenge. :)
