We capped off Brandon’s football career by attending his final Football Banquet. The booster club puts on a nice party for the boys. They focus much of the attention on the Seniors which until this year was a bit boring to sit through, however having a Senior this year made it nice to be a part of.
The booster club also has a program each year to award scholarships to a select few senior football players. Brandon entered the contest and wrote an essay about how sports has influenced his life. He won one of the scholarships to be used at the school of his choice. Great job “B”!
Brandon giving his senior speech, he did a nice job and properly thanked his coaches and most importantly his mother for all the support he received through the years.
The Seniors all lined up at the front of the room in the position of honor.
Senior gifts and awards.

Chayce arrived home on the 12th for his Christmas break. I think he was ready for a break. He did awesome on his grades again this semester, most importantly he received an A in Organic Chemistry, thought by many to be the hardest course in all of undergraduate studies.
Chayce has been enjoying the opportunity to focus on things other than studying. I know he has finished one book and is well into a couple more. One day he didn’t move from the couch as he was determined to finish the book he was reading. I took advantage of his stationary status and sketched this picture of him
He has also gone with Kim to The Seeing Eye and joined her at the homeless cat shelter to play with the cats. Apparently Billy here figured he would sneak onto Chayce’s back in hopes that no one would notice so he could bust out of the place.
After living here for 13 years and talking year after year about going to the Rockette’s Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall we finally made it to the show. I’m glad Kim got us organized and to the show, it was well worth it.
After the show we walked to a few of the Christmas displays that are so famous in NY.
30 Rock to see the tree
5th Avenue to see the decorated shop windows
And Time Square
After taking in the sights we found our way to dinner at Virgil’s, one of our favorite NYC BBQ places.
Christmas was quiet and relaxing this year. It was nice to have the boys to ourselves “most of the time that is”...
Shelby sang us a few carols
The two cats Kim was fostering last month were adopted and she is now taking care of a cute little kitten. He will likely get adopted soon so I don’t know how long he will be with us.
New Years Eve was nice and relaxing, we didn’t go anywhere but the boys stayed home with us and we played games and toasted in the new year. My kind of party.
Happy New Year everyone!

Congrats to Chayce on another great semester (I would agree that organic chemistry is one of the toughest undergrad classes!) and Brandon on his scholarship -that's awesome! Happy New Year!
We sure enjoy your blogs each and every month. You do such a great job and it lets us know just what you all are doing. Thanks for keeping up informed.
Love your blog.

Great job on the scholarship Brandon and the grades Chayce. I loved you pictures of NYC. That theater is amazing. I love to hear about all of Kim's pets.
