The good news was that I was able to take some good photos of Grandpa that had been missing in last months blog!
Here he is checking out the iPhone, looks like he really likes it.
I think this was right after dinner
The primary purpose of their visit was to watch Brandon in one of his final High School football games. The game was on a very dark and cold night, but it was a good game, Brandon played well and the team won, what more could you ask for?
Grandpa earned his keep by helping us recover from the hurricane and massive snow storm that left branches and trees lying all over the yard. I think he was surprised that I had a chainsaw big enough to handle the job. I wish I had taken a photo of the pile of branches and logs he produced so you could see how much damage we had and oh ya how much work he did. Grandpa you will be happy to know the town finally came by and took them away. Thanks for the help!
Brandon even got in on the fun.
Brandon and I started a tradition a couple of years ago by taking the final boat ride together right before it is put away for the winter. This year Grandpa and Grandma joined us for the event. It was a beautiful and very cold day, but we had a good time. Grandpa and Brandon sat up front and Grandma wisely sat back behind the windshield with me where is was warmer.
We also took Grandma and Grandpa to a vista point that Kim discovered. It has one of the best views of the entire Manhattan skyline we have ever found. The sky was nice and clear making it a good afternoon for our visit. There is a nice 911 memorial there that represents the magnitude of the tragedy.
Sadly, football is over, I have enjoyed watching my two boys play a variety of sports over the last decade + and with this years football season coming to an end I’m afraid that part of life is over for Kim and I. As strange as it may sound to those of you still running from field to field or gym to gym, it was some of the greatest years of my life. I loved coaching and watching them play. I guess I’ll have to wait until I have grandkids to start over again.
This year instead of having Chayce fly home for Thanksgiving we decided to go to him in Arizona. What a great trip! Chayce gave us a tour of his apartment, campus and the surrounding area.
Brandon also took an official Campus tour (Kim and I tagged along) It was “pretty neat, pretty cool” (a quote our tour guide repeated at least a 1000 times during our tour).
Doesn’t he look collegiate?
For Turkey day Lisa and family invited us over for an awesome day. We played games, ate lots of great food and hiked in the Phoenix Preserve and relaxed. Thanks Higgins for being such fantastic hosts, we may just move in.
The only downer of the day was the Brandon came down with some kind of infection/illness. Thankfully Lisa knew a doctor who was able to prescribe him some antibiotics and he recovered enough that the only real down and out day of our trip was Thanksgiving day, by the day after he was doing okay.
Kim and Chayce doing an interpretive dance in honor of Jessica
We hit the Phoenix Zoo
Dinner at the Horny Toad
And took in an ASU Football Game
Our final day the Higgins joined us for a trip to Sedona, what a beautiful place.
Hope you all have a great Christmas!

Sniff, sniff. I've never been more touched!
I'm so impressed at how clean Chayce keeps his college room! :) Love you guys!
I think someone is taking advantage of me in the pictures.
We loved our trip back east to see you.
Grandpa
As someone who is still going from field to field and gym to gym, I don't think it's weird at all that you are going to miss it. I love the chaos of being everywhere for our kids - it's the best! Oh, and Arizona for Thanksgiving looks awesome!
