The 4th of July weekend was pretty quiet for us. We had a couple of BBQs and of course went out on the boat for the fireworks. They shot them off on the evening of July 1st and unfortunately Brandon had to work, so he did not join us. We did have our good friends the Archibalds join us and it was a very enjoyable evening. Perfect weather, good snacks and good stories about waterskiing and the many years we have lived in NJ. The Archibalds are moving soon so it was nice to spend some time with them before they go.
It was a bit of a problem holding the camera still for fireworks shots when your are on a boat that is bobbing up and down with the waves , oh well you get the idea.
Brandon’s team entered into a 7 on 7 tournament as part of their summer practices. The concept is to work on the offensive and defensive passing game. No blocking or running plays all passing all the time. It is fast paced and fun to watch. They played five games against other schools from across the state. The competition was at Kean University in Union NJ. I went along to watch and enjoyed the games. The boys worked hard and did well.
Kim and I took Shelby and found a new place to hike not far from our place, I’m always amazed at how much there is around here. We keep discovering new places and yet we have lived here for 13 years. This one was Pyramid Mountain, we did a shorter hike along a lake due to the fact that we got a late start and wouldn’t have been able to finish the hike up the mountain before dark. We do plan to go back and hike to the top.
We have a new friend who moved into our back yard. Shelby is very interested, I hope the bunny is fast enough to avoid capture.
We found a rare Friday afternoon when Rob could step away from work and the boys both had no other obligations, so we headed to the course for a round of golf. I won’t say we are ready for the PGA, but we did have a nice time.

Fishing, or should I say drifting down the river with Uncle Jamie. Can’t say we didn’t try. The fish were jumping all around us, but none seemed to want to jump into our boat. Oh well, it was beautiful and we appreciated Uncle Jamie taking us out.
The next part of our trip took us to the Oregon Coast for the celebration of Grandpa and Grandma Ririe’s 50th wedding anniversary.
