2010 started off cold. The month of January brought us temperatures in the low teens and twenties for most of the month. We did not get much snow so that was nice.
Chayce and Brandon are playing on the YM basketball team for our ward and are doing well. It is a short season, but it is nice for them to get out and play. Rob is coaching and I’m sure that explains the outstanding performance by the team.
Brandon’s HS basketball team (JV) is undefeated so far this season (10-0). They have 5 regular season games plus a county tournament before the end of the season, let’s hope they can keep it up. It makes for very long days for Brandon. He leaves the house at 5:45AM and doesn’t get home until 6PM on most days, even later on games days.
Chyace is still waiting word on colleges. He has been accepted to ASU and BYU Idaho. We are still waiting to hear from BYU Provo. ASU has offered him a scholarship that pays a nice chunk of his tuition. He has been busy filling out applications for other scholarships, so hopefully more will come in.
The boys went on a trip to Palmyra, NY one weekend this month. Brandon had a basketball game on Friday night so Kim and I drove him up to meet up with Chayce and the group after his game. (4 1/2 hours). After we dropped him off we went and got our own hotel…away from the kids :) The kids went and visited all the church sights while Kim and I did our own thing. We all had a nice weekend.
Erie canal, I decided to take a walk out on the ice, I got about 15 feet out and heard a loud pop and saw the ice shift. You’ve never seen an old man run on ice so fast hurrying to get off.
Lake Ontario
Smith Cabin “replica”
Kim and Shelby in Rochester, NY looking at the falls.
Rob was able to get a few days away for some golf in St. George and Las Vegas. It was nice to get away from the cold. It may take a while for Kim, Chayce and Brandon to forgive him.
The 36th hole… given the light situation we played the last hole in darkness. It got kind of hard to find your ball. It’s a funny story, remind me and I’ll tell you later.
___________
Have a great February.

Looks like a fun month! No one out here has heard from BYU yet either - they are slow this year!
