February was a snowy month on the east coast. The boys have used up all the snow days allotted by the school, if it doesn’t stop snowing the school year is going to go longer in June. On top of all the snow it was very cold. It seemed like most days were in the teens and twenties, I’m sure the highs made it into the 30’s once in a while but it felt very cold all the time.
Chayce and Brandon played for the Ward basketball team and had a fun year. We had a good team and won most of our games. We all wish they would run the program for longer so they could play more games. Part of the problem is geography, it is a long drive from one end of our stake to the other. The other issue is some wards struggle to get enough players on a consistent basis. We are lucky when it comes to youth, we have a good sized program in our ward.
Brandon’s High School basketball team did awesome. They finished the year 19-0 and won the county championship.
Chayce received another college acceptance and scholarship to Fairleigh Dickenson University. FDU is a very nice school close to home, so his parents can see how that would be nice to have him at home for a little longer. It is a very expensive school, but with the scholarship he got it makes it workable. Unfortunately he heard back from BYU Provo and he did not get in. It doesn’t really make sense since he is getting academic scholarships to other schools, but hey it is their loss. He seems to be leaning towards ASU at the moment, but he doesn’t need to make a final choice for another couple of months, so stay tuned.
For Presidents day we took a drive up to Orange County New York. For fans of the show American Chopper that will sound familiar. We visited the Orange County Copper (OCC) facility. They have done a great job capitalizing on their 15 minutes of fame. There is a huge facility with many of their famous bikes from the show on display with lots of clothing and other biking accessories available for sale $$$. They also have a viewing area into the shop where you can watch them building bikes. We saw a couple of guys from the show working on bikes, most notably, Rick, one of the main mechanics who builds the custom bikes.
This is what a $95 tee-shirt looks like…no we didn’t get it.
Brandon turned 16 this month.
Brandon shopping for Birthday presents. This kid has more shoes than Imelda Marcos.
He must be afraid of cake???
Brandon is now driving so keep an eye out if you are driving in the NJ area.
Here is Brandon’s new car :) Happy Birthday!
As mentioned in Mom and Dad’s blog, I was trapped on in San Diego because of weather issues, so rather than stay in this:
I opted for this:
It was great to spend time with Mom and Dad and to see the Bakes. I must admit the Bake family runs one of the most organized Family Home Evenings I’ve ever participated in. We had a great time…thanks for dinner Bakes.
I did finally make it home to this:
Ah…it's good to be home.
I vote for better weather in March. I did just get the bill for boat slip rental this summer, I guess that means there is hope.

Teenage drivers only freak me out because it means the kids are getting too old! By the way, Megan wants Brandon's new car. :)
So does Brandon :)
I'm glad you chose Oregon over the the sunshine.
I can't believe you won't really buy that car for Brandon. You're ruining his life!
Great Blog
I didn't fall for Brandon new car.
Glad he has good dreams. Good luck finding and choosing the right University Chayce. No matter which you choose it will be a wonderful experience.
