September 2011 Report

Back to school and football.  That’s September.

Brandon started back at school and of course football has continued, it’s just better now because we get to go to games.  We have had a great time going to the games and hanging out with the other Sr. Parents (no pun intended).  It is fun to watch all the kids Brandon has grown up with out on the field leading the team.  We know many of them and have coached them and watched them grow.  It is a good bunch of boys and it’s fun to see them enjoying their final year of football together.

The team is doing well, in spite of the large number of injuries we have suffered.  We are all hoping they can stay healthy enough to make it to the end.  Brandon has had a great year with some spectacular catches and runs.  He has worked very hard and it is great to see it paying off.

As you hopefully saw in the special ECR report posted a couple of weeks ago, the Randolph game was a featured game of the week on a local sports channel.  Their game was televised live in NJ, NY and CT.  We had a blast coming home after the game and re-watching it on TV.  The station does a great job broadcasting the games.  There are commentators in the booth calling the game, sideline reporters to interview coaches and players and as you could see in the clip great graphic and replays throughout the game.

Now if I can just figure out how to get it off my DVR I’ll be able to make copies.

Kim and Rob did some more exploring of NJ and PA with a trip to Lambertville and New Hope.  We took all back roads en route so we saw some pretty cool places.  It is amazing what a beautiful place New Jersey is.

Chayce’s Birthday

Chayce had to celebrate his 20th birthday all alone in Arizona.  Hopefully some of his friends took care of him.  We wouldn’t know because everything in his life is a BIG secret.  Rob will be in AZ the first weekend in October so hopefully some celebration can take place then.

We did get to talk and sing happy birthday to him on Skype and watch him open his “box o gifts”, not quite the traditional “bag o gifts”, but mailing a shopping bag probably wouldn’t have worked out very well.

Kim and Rob are still trying to get used to the idea they have a twenty-something child.

Rob’s Birthday

Kim and Brandon took good care of Rob on his Birthday with great food and presents. It helped dull the sting of getting older and older.

Chicago

If you haven’t ever spent any time in Chicago you should.  It is a great city, with lots of interesting and fun things to do.  I have to admit most of my experiences have come in small doses on multiple business trips over the years, but I’ve experienced enough to know it is worth the trip.  These are a few photos from my hotel room on a trip I took there this month.

Football is underway!

I got home late on a Thursday night from a trip and thought Kim had put the house up for sale.  Luckily it was just that the Randolph Cheerleaders had gone around and put signs on the football players houses.

If there was any doubt that we are officially old, we can now put that to rest.  While attending our final Back to School Night, we were unpleasantly surprised to hear the period of history Brandon will be studying is the 50’s, 60’s and 70s, EXCUSE ME?!  Okay the 50’s that is a long time ago, but the 60’s and 70’s?  That is when I grew up and went to high school, come on, we aren’t even dead yet.

That's awesome that Brandon is having such a great football season! I laughed out loud at the "history" story - getting old is no fun!

You are just scared those pictures of you at Woodstock are going to be printed in the history books he's studying :) I LOVE New Hope. Such a cool little town. Wish I could do some of that exploring with you!

There should have to be something like most of the people have to be dead from that era before it can be history. Maybe my 2nd grade feild day ribbons will be in the history book.

You do such a great job with your blogs. I love to hear all about what the kids are doing. I do have a hard time getting my college boys to communicate with grandpa though. I do love those boys however.

-and the announcers need to figure out how to pronouce RIRIE. We've watched Brandon's catch many times now; well I have - every time I show it to someone else. Happy Birthday Rob and Chayce. - You're not that old, you should read back at how many times you refer to your aging in this blog - funny
