January 2011 Report

Let me start by saying I think we’ve had enough snow and ice for one winter.  Our snow blower is now struggling to shoot the snow high enough to get over the wall of snow that surrounds our driveway.

Shelby is not happy.  I do have to admit it is funny to watch her trying to move through the deep snow, I guess you would say she actually has to swim through it.

For those of you who know our yard, yes this is the pond.  Why the deer hang out on the ice I have no idea.  I just wish they would all fall through.  In this kind of weather they start eating every plant in sight, even the ones they are not supposed to like.  Our yard is going to be a mess this spring.

This picture is a few days old now, the icicles are almost down to the ground.  The pile of ice in front of our door is making it a real problem to get in and out.  Problem is it still doesn’t keep the home-teachers away.

We took a trip into the city to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art [MET].  It is amazing how it seems like no matter how many times you go it never gets old.  There is always something new, it helps that the place is so huge, I’m not sure you could ever see everything.  Not to mention there are are certain favorites that are fun to look at no matter how many times you see them.

Here are some random shots from our day.

Ya, so Chayce had a hard time understanding the concept of “modern art”??

Well I can tell you that my first semester of College did not start out like this.  We are all proud of the hard work Chayce put in during his first semester and now that he has survived his first finals I’m sure he will do even better next time.

Sadly Chayce had to return to school so we will be without his company for several months, hopefully we can work out some kind of visit for spring break or some other impromptu trip to AZ.

Brandon received a citation from the State of New Jersey for his part in the RHS Football State Championship.

Have a great February and lets all pray for warm weather to get here soon.  At least in NJ…

Boy what an accomplishment for those boys. I love your blog but sure don't envy you with all that snow. I bet that snow blower is getting a work out this year. Are you having to do much travelling with this bad weather.

Love you all
Grandpa Ririe

Okay, I won't complain about the cold weather here - at least we can see our lawns. Congrats to Chayce and Brandon - that's awesome!!
