Happy New Year everyone. Hope you all have a great 2011.
We finished 2010 with some cold cold cold weather. The month was generally dry (until the end, I’ll get to that in a moment), but very cold. The lake froze over as well as our noses and toes. This meant we didn’t do very much other then stay inside and keep warm.
Chayce came home on the 16th of December for his winter break. The good news is he gets to stay home with us until the 17th of Jan, so he gets a nice break from school and we get to enjoy his company a little longer.
Brandon and Kim got the house all decorated up for us this year, thank goodness someone was ambitious. It gets harder each year to convince ourselves that it is worth dragging all those boxes of decorations out, just to put them away 3 weeks later. I guess that is a sign of getting old or the Scrooge in me.
We had a family of flying squirrels take up residence in the facet of our house and we had to have a exterminator come and get rid of them. He plugged up their entry points and put a one-way exit so they could get out, but not back in. I’m not sure we have the whole problem solved, but it is better. They are nocturnal so they were up all night and for a while it sounded like they were having a party every night right over our heads. Wouldn’t you know they decided to nest right above Kim and I’s bed.
Chayce had a 1/2 dozen friends over for an all-night Halo party shortly after his return. They decided in the middle of the night that they would make sure the fire pit Chayce built last summer still worked. It was probably 15 degrees with a very strong wind out, but they got the fire going and actually stayed out there for a long time. The downside was the basement smelled like campfire smoke for days afterward because of their stinky cloths.
Christmas was nice and relaxing, we stayed at home and enjoyed each others company. We didn’t have a white Christmas, but we did get hit pretty good the day after with a sizable storm. The nice thing was we didn’t need to be anyplace so we just stayed home and played with all the toys Santa brought us.

Brandon reading us the “Sweet Smells of Christmas” on Christmas Eve.
The tree with all the loot.

Brotherly love on Christmas Day.
The storm the day after Christmas made it feel like Christmas outside. This shot was early in the evening, by the next morning we had about 9”.
New Years Eve was pretty quiet as well. After a week of celebration we were all pretty tired, so we played some games, toasted in the New Year and went to bed, well some of us did…
Chayce established his Monopoly superiority by soundly crushing us all.
HAPPY 2011

Looks like a fun Christmas! Bet it's nice to have Chayce around.
Looks like all went well at your house for Christmas. That is sure a nice shot of yoyur house with the lights out front and the snow. That is a keeper. Sure glad you had a nice Christmas. We sure miss getting together with you all. It is getting harder every year not being with family. It is hard to see our families growing away from us. We sure miss you all.
Grandpa
