October was all about falling leaves and Football.
Brandon’s Football team has been doing awesome. In fact they are guaranteed 1st place in the conference and they still have a game left before the playoffs begin. After a narrow loss on the first game of the season they have gone undefeated the rest of the way. They will have home field secured for the first couple of rounds of the playoffs so hopefully that pays off with a couple more wins towards a state championship. It would be exciting if they made it to the finals which are played in the new Meadowlands stadium (home of the Giants and the Jets).
Chayce is doing great in school. We are so proud of the way he has started his college career. His grades are excellent and he is keeping busy by getting involved in a number of activities and clubs. One he is really having a blast in is the racquetball team. He plays several times a week and from the sounds of it he is getting pretty good. Perhaps one day he will be able to beat his old man .
I know he went camping the other night with his ward, and the only information I have to share is that he only got about 2 hours of sleep and that he had a good time.
Chayce had an assignment to send me a couple of pictures from school for the blog so people would know what he is up too. Well since he is a big college boy now he thinks he doesn’t have to do stuff if he doesn’t want to. Therefore I think you all need to send him harassing e-mails and letters until he gets with the program.
In the mean time I drew this sketch from memory of what he looked like walking down Palm Walk on campus. It looks a lot warmer there then it does here in NJ?
I went and emptied the boat of all the equipment to get it pulled out for the winter, but the weather was so nice I didn’t have the heart to actually have it pulled and winterized. I figure we can still get a ride or two in before the weather is too cold. With Chayce gone and Brandon busy all the time it's just Kim and I, we enjoy going for a ride around the lake and having dinner at one of the restaurants we like. In fact the other night we did just that, some guy at the restaurant said, "I’m glad to see I'm not the only crazy one who hasn’t taken their boat out for the year". The truth is our marina is still about 1/2 full. The nice weather we have been having has prolonged the season.
Remember back in July (4th) when my car got wrecked? Well finally in October over 3 months later I finally got it back. While I’ll admit they did a good job on the repairs, I have to say; 3 months is ridiculous, don’t you think? Needless to say the repair shop and I have been exchanging pleasantries for the the last month or so, but all is well and I’m back to being mobile once again.
Kim and Rob took a trip to Sleepy Hollow one Saturday afternoon. It is a pretty fun place to be around Halloween. It is their busiest time of the year and they put on quite the show, we looked hard but didn’t see any headless horsemen roaming the streets.
We took a tour of Irving Washington’s [author of Legend of Sleep Hollow] home. It is a beautiful place on the Hudson River.
View of NYC looking down river on the Hudson from Sleepy Hollow. As you can see the river was really rough that day. We had some wild wind storms for a few days during the month.
Brandon and Chelsea dressed up for Halloween and went trick or treating. I didn’t see how big the haul was, but I’m sure Brandon will have it consumed in his typical rapid fashion.
Me: “Brandon what is your costume?”
Brandon: “I’m a ‘B’”
Me: “What’s a B?”
Brandon: “It’s a letter.”
I quit asking questions after that. They had fun putting their costumes together and I have to admit, compared to the typical teenage baseball hat costume, at least they got creative.
Hope you have a great November and especially a great Thanksgiving. Chayce is coming home so I know we are going to have a great T-day. If anyone wants to come and see him, it’s not to late to put your reservations in. Your welcome to join us.

Chayce - Send some pictures for the blog! I think that I'd rather visit you in sunny Arizona then NJ.
Brandon - Congrats on the football. Having a winning season makes it a lot of fun.
I love the pictures of Sleepy Hollow. Sounds like a fun trip. I love that you are always finding new things to do.
As always I sure love your blog. We are back at Jeff's and trying to get him to do one. Not having much success.
Love to you all.
Grandpa.
