I’d like to go on record with the fact that I do not like summer coming to an end! Yes fall is beautiful and all that, but the end of summer represents the end of a frame of mind, a feeling of fun and freedom. School starts in earnest and work picks up again because people return from vacations. Don’t even get me started on the fact that winter is approaching. I must be getting old and ready for retirement in a sunny place.
Football is off to a great start this season. Brandon is playing on both JV and Varsity and both teams are doing great. Brandon plays both offense as an end and defense as a corner back. He is having fun and Kim and I are enjoying his games. We don’t get much excitement around here anymore so football games are about all we have.
So your asking yourself why do they have pictures of the sky in the middle of the “Brandon Football” section. Well these are from one of his games and it was during the time that one of the hurricanes (Igor) came up the east coast and just happened to be right off the coast of NY/NJ that day. We didn’t get much weather but the skies were pretty to watch.
My West Coast work trips have afforded me (Rob) the privilege of making side trips to visit Chayce at ASU. I first visited him the weekend of September 10th. It was great to finally see his dorm room and have him show me around campus. ASU is such a nice campus, it has a nice vibe and the way it is laid out makes it a great place to live and go to school. Chayce has everything he needs within a short walk from his dorm. The dorms are very nice, much better than I remember from my college days. I had lunch with him one day at his cafeteria and it was great food. I think Kim and I are going to have to figure out how we can move on campus too.
Rob’s visit to ASU 9/10
Rob’s visit to ASU 9/24 and CHAYCE’s Birthday!!
For Chayce’s Birthday the Higgins family met us at Grimaldi’s (Scottsdale, AZ??) for dinner. Okay so it was not Grimaldi’s in Brooklyn, NY even though they claim to be the same, but it was still very good and we had a great time celebrating Chayce’s Birthday complete with NYC style Cheesecake. For those of you who may be wondering what the symbol we are doing with our hands is…The Sun Devil Pitch Fork, shame on you for not knowing.
Chayce and Rob took a drive up the Apache Trail in the Superstition Mountains. What an incredible place it is. Absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to spend more time there.
We hiked up to these cliff dwellings. Very cool. Well okay not the temperature.
Kim and I discovered a new hike and waterfall not far from our house. Doesn’t look like much because the water level is so low, but it was a fun hike.
We managed to squeeze in a few boat outings with Chayce gone and Brandon in Football is wasn’t easy.
Brandon coaching Chelsea on the art of getting up on a wakeboard.
We finished the month with a visit from our prodigal daughter returning with a child. Yes Jessica and Lola came for a long overdue visit and we had a great time with them. NYC may never recover.
Yes Lola is a serious ASU Fan.
Lola and Jess walking the Brooklyn Bridge.
Hope you all have a great October. Don’t eat too much candy.

This post made me homesick for my East Coast family. Thanks again, a million times over, for letting us crazy girls invade your house. Lola wakes up every morning and woofs. I think she misses Shelby the most :)
