We rang in the new year with a family party at our house. Consistent with our Christmas celebration we kept it pretty low key. Brandon's "friend" Britney joined us for the evening so that was fun. We played games and toasted in the new year and I was asleep at about 12:15am. It used to be so easy to stay up late, now I struggle to make it to 10.

Chayce and three of his friends friends went into NYC without any adult supervision! The funny part of the story was that while we where in the city just after Christmas I saw a couple of teenage kids walking around and asked Kim if she would be comfortable allowing her teenagers to come into the city alone. No was the quick answer. Then just a couple of days later Chayce comes and says "Camile, DiAnna and Alonzo want to know if I will come with them to NYC for the day". Pretty funny how these things work out. Well after threatening to put a GPS tracking device under his skin or worse going along to make sure they were OK (ya right) Mom finally gave in and let her little boy go out into the world alone.
They took the train in and from what little information we've been given it sounds like they had a good time. Chayce and Alonzo did learn the difficult lesson that if you let girls get close too stores you will spend way too much time shopping.

So much for global warming! We have had one of the coldest Januaries I can remember. The lake is completely frozen and every day you find dozens of kids out there ice skating or playing hockey. The daily highs are in the teens with the rare warm day getting up into the low 20's.

Kim and Shelby playing in the Snow!*
Rob escaped the cold with a trip to CA now understands why people put up with the crowds and traffic. It was 85 and sunny in LA/San Diego and 75 and sunny in San Fran. A trip back to CA is definitely in order for February. Actually it looks like I will be in Florida, LA, SFO and Las Vegas during Feb...I'll let you know how it goes.

It has been a big basketball month for us. Both Chayce and Brandon are playing. I could spend all day every day just watching my boys play sports. I'm pretty sure I like it more than they do. I coached the church team and we did very well this year. We went undefeated during the season and only lost one game during a full day tournament they held yesterday. Chayce played every game and Brandon joined us when he wasn't away for a High School game.
Bran's HS team is doing well and is about half way through the season. In addition to their regular season play they also have a tournament that they have been doing on Saturdays. They are in the semi-finals for that next weekend so GO RAMS!
