School started on the 3rd for Brandon and the 4th for Chayce. Its hard to believe I have two boys in High School. Wow and I must be getting old. The boys seem to be off to a good start. They went to a new scheduling system and I think it has taken a little getting used to, but they seem to be figuring it out and getting to the right place at the right time. I'm sure they would deny it, but I suspect they are at least glad to be around their friends again, if not glad to be back in classes.

We have two in seminary this year, but that doesn't make it any easier to get out of bed in the morning. Surprisingly we haven't had any major drama, I wouldn't go so far as to say they love it, but at least they are tolerating it. I had to drive for the first few weeks, but now that Chayce got his licence he is driving them to seminary and then on to school. It's not as ideal as you would hope, our school does not have enough parking for all the people who want to drive so it is limited to Seniors only. As a result Chayce has to park across the street in the town municipal building parking lot. Given that Chayce is not the first high school kid to try that, they have a four hour limit that is strictly enforced. As a result Kim and I have to go pick up the car when I leave for work, what a pain, but it is better then me getting up at 5:30AM every day and driving two towns away.

So YES you heard it right! Chayce turned 17 and is now driving. He took his test on the morning of his birthday and passed with flying colors. While I'm not sure how I feel about having my boys get so old, I have to admit it has been nice to have him able to help out with some errands and to be able to get himself around.
About a year ago I bought a truck to have when we needed to do yard work or get stuff from the Home Depot. I bought a manual transmission so the boys would learn how to drive a stick. Chayce has learned well and now can be seen cruising around town in it. He prefers to drive mine when he gets the chance, but hey this truck is better then the 1976 Ford LTD wagon with the imitation wood panelling I drove until we got the Mustang working.
